After School Hiking Program

The hiking club will once again begin meeting in the fall of 2022 as part of the after school program for sixth and seventh graders at Polk County Middle School. Each Wednesday, a club of around 15 students is transported from the Middle School to one of the area trails.
The students have a chance to exercise and explore their home county while also gaining knowledge on flora, fauna, geology, and history of the area.

The club is run by Sixth Grade ELA teacher, Jeanne Ferran as well as the Polk County Recreation Coordinator, Laura Baird.
