The Nature Navigators went on a hike to Norman Wilder Forest on October 26th. We saw salamanders at the drip falls. We saw two salamanders, one was a baby. Also we saw a tiny snail. We saw that this snail had an opening on right which is called a gilled snail and these snails mean the water quality at the drip falls is good. Pam, from Pacolet Area Conservancy, pointed out lines of holes in a big tree. She told us that a yellow bellied sapsucker made those holes for sap that they eat and to find bugs to eat. I wonder where we will hike next and what we will learn about.
